Lucknow: The nation celebrated the 148th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the ‘Iron Man of India’ and former Deputy Prime Minister. In honour of Ekta Diwas, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath jointly inaugurated the ‘Run for Unity’ event in the city of Lucknow. The event emphasises the unity of the country.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid his respects to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, praising him as a symbol of unity. He reflected on the historical context, noting that when India attained independence in 1947, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s dedicated efforts went unrecognized. However, in 2014, after taking power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shed light on Patel’s contributions to the nation. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his hope that people, regardless of age or background, could work together in harmony and unity, free from discrimination.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also offered his tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during the birthday celebrations. Across the country, numerous events and celebrations marked this special day. In Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid flowers at the statue of Vallabhbhai Patel after reciting the oath of Ekta in a ceremonial gathering.
