Thiruvananthapuram: A section of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College building collapsed. The kitchen section of the Medical College Catering Work Cooperative Society, situated adjacent to the new Outpatient Department (OP) of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, collapsed in the afternoon.
Approximately 80 people were present in the canteen at the time of the incident, and there were no reported casualties. It has been reported that, despite the danger, authorities did not take steps to evacuate individuals from the vicinity.
Employees associated with the building had previously voiced their concerns regarding its structure. They stressed that the building did not meet the necessary safety standards and should not continue to operate in precarious conditions, even if a major disaster has been narrowly avoided.
