Kannur: A case has been registered against the accused, Babu Thomas, for firing at a Sub-Inspector (SI) and his team from the Valapattanam police station in Kannur. The incident took place in Kannur Chirakkal when the SI and his team went to Babu’s house to apprehend his son, Roshan, who was a suspect in a criminal case. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the gun used by Babu Thomas was not licensed, and he discharged three rounds from a revolver. The SI stated that they narrowly escaped harm because they were able to move away.
The police visited the house to locate the wanted suspect, Roshan, who was involved in a case of assaulting Balaji, a resident of Tamil Nadu. The police team knocked on Roshan’s room when Babu opened fire at them. Roshan managed to flee the scene during the incident. The apprehended Babu Thomas is currently undergoing police interrogation. Authorities have reported an ongoing search for Roshan, who is on the run.
Meanwhile, the family claims that Babu Thomas fired in self-defense, asserting that the shots were fired into the air and not aimed at the police.
