Ernakulam: The death toll in the Kalamassery bomb blast at a prayer meeting of Jehovah’s Witnesses has reached five as one more person who was undergoing treatment at Aster Medicity succumbed to injuries. The deceased has been identified as Sali Pradeepan (45) from Malayattoor, the mother of 12-year-old Libna, who tragically passed away on October 30. Notably, Sali Pradeepan’s sons, Praveen and Rahul, are still in critical condition and receiving treatment at the hospital.

Libna, who sustained 95 percent burns in the October 29 blast, passed away while undergoing treatment. Her funeral took place six days after her death, allowing the father to perform the rites, in the hope that his wife and other children, who were also undergoing treatment, would have a chance to pay their respects. The funeral was held on November 4th.

Among the other deceased in the incident were Molly Joy (61) from Kalamassery, Leona Paulose (55) from Iringol, Perumbavoor, Kumari (53) from Kaliyar, Idukki, and another individual, Libna (12) from Malayattoor. Leona Paulose lost her life at the blast site, while Molly Joy, Kumari, and Libina passed away while receiving medical treatment.

Following the incident, the State Health Department formed a special Medical Board to monitor the health status of those injured in the blast, according to officials.

The Kalamassery bomb blast, which occurred during the final day of a three-day Jehovah’s Witnesses prayer meeting at the international convention center on October 29, was a devastating event. Dominic Martin, the accused in multiple blasts, has been remanded to police custody for 10 days, until November 15.
