Doda: A bus carrying 55 passengers from Kishtwar to Jammu met with an accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in 36 fatalities and 19 individuals sustaining injuries. The bus skidded off the road and plunged into a 300-foot gorge near Trungal in the Assar area of the highway.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh, in a post on ‘X’, confirmed the 36 casualties and mentioned that six of the injured are in critical condition. Home Minister Amit Shah expressed condolences in a statement on ‘X,’ noting the active involvement of the local administration in rescue operations.
Local authorities and rescue teams are actively engaged in operations at the accident site to rescue survivors and provide medical assistance. Union Minister Jitendra Singh communicated with Doda District Commissioner Harvinder Singh, who reported that the injured are being shifted to Government Medical College Doda.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences for the lives lost in the bus accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh from the PM’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured.
“The bus accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, is distressing. My condolences to the families who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest,” the Office of the PM posted on X.
