Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is set to take over the case into the production of fake identity cards led by Youth Congress members. The CBI investigation is recommended on the basis of finding external interference in the case. Presently under the investigation of the museum police, the case details will soon be handed over to the Director General of Police (DGP).
Authorities are poised to issue a formal request for server-related information today. Upon completion of initial investigations, the DGP will submit a detailed report to both the Election Commission and the government for further action.
The focus of the police investigation has been based on the software involved. Additional details have emerged regarding the incident. A complaint was registered by a Congress worker, stating that his identity card was utilized by someone else for voting. In response to this complaint, the police have filed a case of impersonation.
