New Delhi: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has rejected allegations linking the COVID-19 vaccination to the sudden deaths of young individuals. In a clarifying statement, the ICMR emphasised that vaccinations are not the cause of these untimely deaths. ICMR pointed to factors such as the COVID-19 infection itself, hereditary conditions, and lifestyle choices as potential contributors to these incidents.
The ICMR highlighted that excessive alcohol consumption, intense physical exercise, and smoking are identified as leading causes of sudden deaths among young individuals. As a precautionary measure, individuals who have undergone treatment for COVID-19 are advised against engaging in excessive exercise for the next two years. A study was conducted by ICMR that focused on individuals aged between 18 and 45 to identify the correlation between lifestyle choices and untimely deaths.
