Kozhikode: Echoing a voice reminiscent of MT Vasudevan Nair, senior novelist M. Mukundan criticized the government and denounced leaders who have ascended to the ‘high pedestal of power’. He stated that we are currently living in the age of crowns, where blood is becoming less important. As the value of blood decreases, the significance of the crown increases. All of these aspects should be remembered during the election, and voting should be carried out accordingly. This criticism was expressed by M Mukundan on the stage of the Kerala Literature Festival.
“We live in the age of crowned leaders. The value of blood is becoming less important. Those who sit on the throne have tasted power. They should be told to abdicate their high pedestal. We, the people are after you,” the veteran writer said.
Earlier, delivering a keynote address at the inauguration of KLF(Kerala Literature Festival) in Kozhikode MT Vasudevan had taken a dig at politicians, in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. MT said that power has become hegemony or totalitarianism and the theory of opportunity for public service has been buried. Minister Muhammad Riyas, writer K. Satchidanandan, dancer Mallika Sarabhai and others were also present on the stage.
