With the installation of AI cameras, traffic violations are being strictly monitored by the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD). Heavy fines are imposed on the violators so that road accidents and mishaps could be curbed. The vehicle owners violating the traffic regulations get messages on their mobile phone asking them to pay the fine. But not all such messages sent to you are genuine and official, warns the MVD.
Officials say fake websites similar to the Parivahan Sewa website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways are circulating on a large scale. A message and a link will come to the mobile stating that the Motor Vehicle Act has been violated and the fine has to be paid. Many people without going through the entire content of the message click on the payment link in the message to pay the fine. But in many cases, chances of losing money are high once you click this link.
Fraudsters sending fake messages by taking advantage of online fine payment systems are in high movement now. Many do not bother to complain about losing money, ignoring it being a small amount lost. The authorities hence ask the people to be aware of the online payment criteria and insist that online payment of fine should be made only through the Parivahan Sewa website of the government.
