New Delhi: Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, conveyed gratitude on behalf of the Malayalees to Union Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani for her efforts in providing concessions on air ticket fares for passengers traveling for Haj from Karipur.
“The decision to reduce the ticket price by Rs 40,000 is also an example of how the good governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fostering unity among minorities,” V Muraleedharan remarked. He further emphasized that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his colleagues, who have neglected the needs of thousands of Malayali pilgrims, should refrain from claiming to be the saviors of minorities.
The intervention by the Union Minority Affairs Minister aimed to offer a discount on the flight tickets for those embarking on the Haj pilgrimage from Karipur. The airline originally charged Rs 1,75,000 from Karipur, while the services of other airlines from Kannur charged Rs 75,000. It was in response to this situation that Smriti Irani stepped in to address the concerns of the pilgrims.
