Abu Dhabi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to the UAE will begin today. The Indian community is ready to welcome the Prime Minister who is visiting the UAE to attend the ‘Ahlan Modi’ (Welcome Modi in Arabic) conference and to inaugurate the ‘BAPS Hindu Mandir’(Mandir is Temple) in Abu Dhabi.
The ‘Ahlan Modi’ conference will be held at the Abu Dhabi Zayed Sports City Stadium. The organizers closed the bookings on February 2 after the registration to attend the conference crossed 65,000; though reports are coming in now that the weather conditions have forced authorities to reduce participation strength to 35,000 people.
“The UAE is going to be the venue for a very special conference because no conference like this has been held here before. Collective efforts are being made to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People are waiting to see the Prime Minister who has become a world leader. This shows their love for the Prime Minister. The participation of women is also worth mentioning,” said Jitendra Vaidya, President of Indian People Forum.
There are about 3.5 million Indians in the UAE. This is about 35 percent of the country’s population. The ‘Ahlan Modi’ conference will be held under the leadership of more than 150 diaspora organizations. An art and cultural program featuring more than 700 artistes will be staged at the conference. This will be a program where unity in diversity will be demonstrated in another country. Jitendra Vaidya added that the programs will be filled with the interweaving of friendly relations and cultural exchanges between India and the UAE.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will arrive in the UAE today (February 13, 2024), will inaugurate the ‘BAPS Hindu Mandir’ in Abu Dhabi on the 14th. In August 2015, the UAE government approved 27 acres of land at Abu Mureikhah, which is near Al Rahba off the Dubai–Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway, to build a temple. The announcement was made by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first visit to the UAE.
BAPS (Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha) Hindu Mandir, the first traditional Hindu stone temple in the Middle East, is a traditional Hindu place of worship that is being built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The temple stands at a height of 108 feet, 262 feet in length and 180 feet in width.
