Amritsar: After the spurious liquor tragedy in Punjab’s Sangrur distrcit, which claimed the lives of 21 people, the BJP has demanded a detailed inquiry into the Excise Policy in Punjab. The BJP has called for the investigation to be conducted by Central investigation agencies.
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has demanded a CBI investigation.
BJP Punjab State Chief Sunil Jakhar approached the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to demand an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into the ‘planned corruption’ in Punjab’s Excise Policy. The BJP claimed that the Excise Policy in Punjab is framed similarly to the Excise Policy of Delhi, which led to massive scandals.
BJP has stated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in connection with his involvement in massive corruption through formulating the Delhi Excise Policy. In this situation, the BJP filed a petition with the Punjab State Election Commission, urging them to order a detailed investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to uncover any corruption involving Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Minister of Punjab, and AAP leader.
On March 20th, the incident was first reported from Sangrur district of Punjab, claiming several lives after consuming spurious liquor. According to the latest reports, the death toll has risen to 21, with more than 40 people admitted to hospitals in serious condition.
