New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena affirmed that he will not allow Arvind Kejriwal to lead the Delhi government from jail. Saxena made this statement in response to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders’ assertion that Arvind Kejriwal continues to be the Delhi Chief Minister even from jail. Saxena expressed this during a media programme conducted by Times Now.
Saxena assured the people of Delhi that the government will not led from jail.
AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 and remanded in custody until March 28 for his connection to the Delhi liquor scam case. Despite being in custody, Arvind Kejriwal announced that he will not resign from his position as Chief Minister and intends to continue leading the administration from jail, challenging the legal system of the country. Several BJP members protested against this.
While under ED custody, Arvind Kejriwal directed Minister Atishi Marlena Singh, who holds the water portfolio, to address water and sewer-related issues in some areas of Delhi by providing instructions through his lawyer.
In response to this situation, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena reiterated that he will not allow Arvind Kejriwal to lead the Delhi government from jail.
