Bengaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team found out that the accused in ‘The Rameshwaram Cafe’ blast case in Bengaluru had planned a terror attack across Karnataka. The crucial information was obtained from the interrogation of Muzammil Shareef, who was arrested on March 28.
NIA reported that Muzammil Shareef stated that Abdul Matheen Taha, a native of Shivamogga Thirthahalli, had instructed him to prepare a plan for bomb blasts across Karnataka.
The investigation team found that Musavir Hussain Shazeb placed the bomb in the cafe based on Abdul Matheen Taha’s instructions, who is the mastermind behind the Bengaluru cafe blast case. Both individuals were also involved in the Tunga trial blast in Shivamogga in 2019 and the cooker blast in Mangaluru on November 21, 2022.
Muzammil Shareef came into contact with Abdul Matheen Taha and Musavir Hussain Shazeb in 2019 after he relocated to Hegde Nagar in North Bengaluru. He was reportedly aware of the terror plots planned by them and their connection with ISIS handlers.
NIA reported that Muzammil Shareef helped Abdul Matheen Taha and Musavir Hussain Shazeb find a crowded place for the attack, leading to the placement of the bomb in ‘The Rameshwaram Cafe’ in Bengaluru.
