New Delhi: Days after the Central government abrogated Article 370 to integrate Jammu and Kashmir fully with India and to divide the state into two Union Territories, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoke to the nation.
In his around 30 minute address, Narendra Modi outlined the bright future for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and promised development and normalcy to the two Union Territories.
The Prime Minister began his address by saying that the dream of Sardar Patel, B. R. Ambedkar, Syama Prasad Mukherjee, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been achieved. He went on to describe the harm that Article 370 had brought to the people of Kashmir.
Narendra Modi reminded that the people of Jammu and Kashmir did not get any benefits from Article 370.
He said that the Act against atrocities to Dalits and the Minority Act was not applicable to the State. He also said that the Minimum Wages Act was not operable in Jammu and Kashmir which deprived people of minimum wages.
The Prime Minister promised that employees and Jammu and Kashmir police officers will get benefits on the equal footing of their counterparts in other states. In addition, the vacancies in government jobs will be filled and this will help the local youths get job opportunities.
Modi also promised the people of Jammu Kashmir that Legislative Assembly Elections will take place and the people can elect their own representatives in a transparent manner and asked the Governor of the state to being the process of forming the Block Development Council.
