Jammu & Kashmir: Students of the Government Degree College in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir dared to hoist the National flag on the entry gate of the college to welcome the revocation of the Article 370. The RSS student wing led the group of students to hoist the tricolor flag in the college premises.
A student leader said that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir was now complete after the special status of the state was taken away.
The students of Kashmir are happy with the Central government’s decision because it will open door for real development and will end the discrimination of any kind. Article 370 discriminated the citizens of the state with the women and Dalits not enjoying the same rights as the rest.
Another student leaders blamed the political leaders of Kashmir by saying, “Now we get freedom from the clutches of cruel leaders.” He also said that unemployment was a major issue in the region.
The Parliament passed the Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganization) Bill, 2019, with overwhelming majority that put an end to Article 370 and also divided the state into two Union Territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. While Ladakh will not have a legislative assembly, Jammu and Kashmir will have a legislative assembly and elected representatives.
Though, Congress, communist and a few other parties were opposed to the move, many major political parties joined BJP’s decision to revoke Article 370.
