New Delhi: In a sign that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is becoming normal, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kishan Reddy, said that Section 144, which imposed emergency in the region, will be lifted in a week or 10 days from Jammu and Kashmir. It was imposed by the government to contain any protests or untoward incidents after Article 370 was scrapped.
Kishan Reddy said, “There was peace in Jammu and Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A. Section 144 will be lifted within a week to ten days and that there will be normalcy in the valley soon.”
He said that in many places in Jammu and Kashmir the Section is already relaxed.
The MoS warned that Pakistan was misleading the people by giving false reports. He also said that some political parties in the country are also misleading the people for their own interests.
Kishan Reddy told,”Communication was also being restored in some places and will be done soon in many places. There are no signs of havoc in Jammu and Kashmir. We are just taking precautions, if provoked then things will be settled as soon as possible. After the abrogation of Article 370, we can see that people are much happier than before.”
The Minister added that Jammu and Kashmir will be developed in the industrial sector and the culture of the state will be recognized.
The opposition cried foul when the government scrapped Article 370. They predicted that people will rise up against the decision and warned about large scale attack. The fear mongers painted a dismal picture of Jammu and Kashmir once the article is scrapped.
However, the Central government is trying to bring the Kashmiri people into the mainstream of India so that the region returns to normalcy and they could develop on the same footing as any other state.
