New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram did not get immediate relief from the Supreme Court as his bail, seeking protection from arrest, was referred to Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi.
The bench headed by N V Ramana did not consider the case but moved the file to C J Ranjan Gogoi for passing the order on the listing of the case.
CBI team had reached at Chidambaram’s residence this morning but he was not there. CBI has filed a caveat in the top court as Chidambaram has approached the court to seek protection from arrest.
Two teams of CBI and ED reached Chidambaram’s house at Jor Bagh in New Delhi last night but could not meet Chidambaram. They pasted a notice on the wall of his residence asking him to be present before them within two hours.
“Whereas it appears that you are acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case noted below, which I am now investigating under Chapter XII of the Code of Criminal Procedure, you are hereby directed to attend before me within two hours of the receipt of this notice for the purpose of investigation of case,” mentions the notice given by investigating officer R. Parthasarathy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, CBI.
The Enforcement Directorate has issued a fresh lookout notice against P Chidambaram.
