New Delhi: British High Commissioner to India Sir Dominic Asquith on Sunday paid tribute to former Union Minister Arun Jaitley and recalled him as ‘ a man people in Britain treasured’.
“Jaitley was a man that many people in Britain treasured, knew well, worked with, valued him for his wisdom, gentleness and humour. He will be much missed,” Asquith told news agency ANI.
Ambassador of Israel, Dr Ron Malka and Board of Control for Cricket in India acting president CK Khanna too visited Jaitley’s residence to pay their last respects.
Senior Congress leader Motilal Vohra, NCP leaders Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel, RLD leader Ajit Singh and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu paid their tributes to the BJP leader this morning.
The mortal remains of Jaitley are being taken to the BJP headquarters for party workers and the public to pay their last respects. And then it will be taken to the Nigambodh Ghat, where the last rites will be performed.
