Jammu and Kashmir: The Indian Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat, is visiting Srinagar on his first visit since the government scrapped Article 370. He arrived in the state to review the security measures and preparedness of the armed forces in the state.
His visit comes after Rajnath Singh made a visit to the state and gave a strong worded message to Pakistan who is trying to meddle in the internal affairs of India. The Defence Minister had visited Leh yesterday and stressed that Kashmir has always been part of India and will remain so. He said that Pakistan has no locus standi on the matter.
Interestingly, the General’s visit to Kashmir comes on a day when Pakistan, urged by Imran Khan, will hold a protest across the country in solidarity with Kashmir between 12 and 12.30 pm.
Imran Khan has been trying to internationalize the Kashmir issue but has failed miserably on the world stage. Countries across the globe including Muslim countries have backed India’s stand that Kashmir issue is an internal matter of India and any issues with Pakistan will be discussed only bilaterally without any third party intervention.
