New Delhi: The government of India have declared Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) leader, Masood Azhar, and Lakshar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed are now ‘individual terrorists’. This comes after a crucial amendment to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 in Parliament just over a month ago.
The notification by Home Ministry said, “And whereas, the central government believes that Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is involved in terrorism and Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is to be notified as a terrorist under the said Act.”
The UAPA also designated Mumbai terror mastermind Zaki Ur Rehman Lakhvi and underworld criminal Dawood Ibrahim also as terrorists.
The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 2019, puts a travel ban on individuals declared as terrorists.
