Vladivostok: After receiving Narendra Modi by Russian President, Vladimir Putin, the two leaders had a bilateral discussion at the Zvezda shipping complex.

In a press conference after the meeting Narendra Modi together with Putin said, “We (India and Russia) both are against outside influence in the internal matters of any nation.” Though, Modi spoke these words in reference to the situation in Afghanistan, his message is widely believed to be aimed against Pakistan and the Kashmir issue.

Modi also announced a proposal to have a full fledged maritime route between Chennai and Vladivostok.

He added, “India-Russia friendship is not restricted to their respective capital cities. We have put people at the core of this relationship.”

Earlier, Vladimir Putin had invited Narendra Modi to the 75th anniversary of World War II next year. While inviting Modi, the Russian President said, “We are expecting you in May next year at the celebrations devoted to marking the 75th-anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, Victory over Nazism.”

About India’s relation with Russia, Narendra Modi had said, ” “Russia is an integral friend and trustworthy partner of India. You’ve personally focused on expanding our special & privileged strategic partnership. As two integral friends, we have met regularly. I’ve spoken to you over the telephone on several issues, I’ve never felt any hesitation.”

India and Russia will sign many agreements in a variety of areas like defence, trade, industrial cooperation, energy, investments, and connectivity corridors.

Narendra Modi is on a two day visit to Russia. During the visit, Modi will be attending the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). He will be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the far east region of Russia.
