Bengaluru: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chief K Sivan told the news agency ANI, ” We’ve found the location of #VikramLander on lunar surface & orbiter has clicked a thermal image of Lander. But there is no communication yet. We are trying to have contact. It will be communicated soon. #Chandrayaan2″
The orbiter has clicked a thermal image of the Lander.
ISRO had lost contact with Vikram on September 7 after 12 minutes into its descent from orbit. The lander was passing through the ’15 minutes of terror’ phase that ISRO had earlier said. All the parameters of Vikram was functioning fine and it kept the expected trajectory. However, 12 minutes into the descent and just 2 kms from the surface of the moon, ISRO lost contact with Vikram.
