Pakistan uses statements of opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi in its dossier at UNHRC to accuse India of human rights violation in Kashmir

Geneva: In an article the ‘Republic TV’ reports that Pakistan will submit a 115-page dossier against India’s decision to abrogate Article 370 and the alleged atrocities of Indian forces in Kashmir, ahead of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva. Interestingly, Pakistanis are using statements of Rahul Gandhi, Omar Abdullah, and of activists like Arundhati Roy, Shehla Rashid, and Kavitha Krishnan.

The dossier contains charges against India for human rights violation in Kashmir and to prove their point, the Pakistanis are using the statements of the opposition leaders and also of activists and intellectuals.

In the report, it says that Pakistan’s dossier, which was leaked before the country’s Foreign Minister spoke in UN, quotes Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, “It’s been 20 days since the people of J&K had their freedom and civil liberties curtailed. Leaders of the Opposition and Press got a taste of the draconian administration and brute force unleashed on the people of J&K when we tried to visit Srinagar.”

Omar Abdullah’s words after the Government announced its decision to scrap Article 370 were also included. The National Conference party leader and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said, “GOI’s unilateral and shocking decisions will have far-reaching and dangerous consequences. This is an aggression against Kashmirs. The decisions are unilateral, illegal and unconstitutional. A long & tough battlle lies ahead. We are ready. ”

Pakistan has been continuously using international forums to spark international intervention in Kashmir after India decided to abrogate Article 370. However, the country failed to evoke any response from the international community. Interestingly, Muslim countries did not support Pakistan’s position.

The only country to back Pakistan is China, who also has stakes at the Aksai Chin.

Pakistan had written letters to UN alleging atrocities and lock-down in Kashmir. India has maintained that allegations of atrocities are unfounded and that Kashmir is an internal matter of India.

A high level Indian delegation led by High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria and Secretary East, Vijay Thakur Singh will face the Pakistani delegation at UNHRC today.

Earlier, India reacted to the Chinese backing of Pakistan during the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi’s two-day visit to Pakistan.

Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said, ” “We reject the reference to Jammu and Kashmir in the joint statement issued by China and Pakistan after the recent visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.”
