Srinagar: The Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh, today, issued a strong warning against Pakistan’s design to use civilians of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) as cannon fodder and send them across the Line of Control (LoC).

He said that the Indian Army is fully equipped to deal with Pakistani threats.

Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh said, “There have been efforts by Pakistan and lot of rhetoric is there from the past couple of days that they want to instigate the civilians, locals in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to come close to Line of Control (LoC) and even attempt to cross that. However, I would like to caution Pakistan not to use the civilians of PoK as cannon fodder because Indian Army is very clear, should there be any attempts at violating LoC they shall be responded to very effectively.”

Singh reminded that the Pakistan and its army will be solely responsible for causalities on their side and told the Pakistani authorities to keep a strict check on its citizens ensure that they do not even come close to LoC.

The Lieutenant General was speaking to media after visiting forward posts of the Army at LoC.

He said, “The situation along LoC is under our control. By our calibrated and proactive approach, we have been able to attain complete moral ascendency over the enemy but unfortunately Pakistan and its Army to cross the LoC and try to create a disturbance.”

Ranbir Singh added, “They are also carrying out ceasefire violations, all the infiltration attempts along LoC have been foiled by our multilayered dynamic counter-infiltration grid. We a have very effective robust counter-terrorism grid which has been able to ensure stability in the hinterland.”

There were intelligence inputs that Pakistan Army was trying to recruit civilians from Pakistan occupied Kashmir to infiltrate en mass into India and create a huge security problem. The Pakistani army believes that such an infiltration would force Indian security forces to open fire at these civilians which would lead to an international outcry.

However, India has got wind of their plans and are fully equipped to deal with such nefarious activities.
