Kotkata: Former Police Commissioner and Mamata Banerjee’s trusted cop, Rajeev Kumar, was denied bail by the Kolkata Barasath District Session court. His arrest is now imminent but the accused has gone into hiding. He has been facing arrest in the multi-crore Sharada Chit Fund case.
Rajeev Kumar approached the Session court after the Special Court had rejected his bail plea on the grounds that it was above its powers.
The trusted aide of Mamata Banerjee went into hiding last week after CBI was preparing for his arrest after the time given by High Court expired during which he was not to be arrested.
Interestingly, the government records show that Rajeev Kumar is on leave from 6 to 25 September on personal reasons. The CBI had sent its arrest warrant to the state Secretariat and to Rajeev Kumar’s residence. However, Rajeev Kumar declined to appear before the CBI citing the ill health of his wife.
