Puri: To mark the International Coastal Cleanup Day (ICCD) massive beach cleanup drive involving thousands of volunteers began at different locations in Puri district.
More than 10,000 social activists gathered at Puri sea beach to be part of the cleanup drive on ICCD, which is one of the world’s largest annual preservation and protection events and volunteer efforts for ocean and beaches.
The district administration initiated the campaign under the banner of ‘Mo Beach’ cleaning programme. The word ‘Mo’ in Oriya means ‘my’ and this campaign was started to make the shoreline clean.
The beaches that mostly attracts in Puri are Baliharchandi, Rajhans, Astaranga and Ramchandi.
