New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has denied bail to Congress leader and former Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, in the INX Media corruption case. The High Court said that there is a possibility that he might influence the witness if granted bail.
Chidambaram who has been in custody since his arrest on 21 August by CBI filed a bail plea directly at the High Court.
The former minister in the UPA government was imprisoned in Tihar jail and is in judicial custody till 3 October. Chidambaram was arrested for irregularities in the FIPB clearance granted to INX Media group for receiving funds from abroad to a tune of Rs. 305 crore in 2007 while he was the finance minister of the country.
A money laundering case is also filed against him by the Enforcement Directorate in the same case.
