MEA condemns Pakistani PM for making open call to jihad against India

New Delhi: The Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Raveesh Kumar, accused the Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan, for openly asking his countrymen to march towards the Line of Control (LoC).

Raveesh Kumar also came down against Imran Khan for his irresponsible remarks in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Kumar also spoke about India’s displeasure against Malaysia and Turkey for openly supporting Pakistan at UNGA without knowing the facts of the Kashmir issue.

Speaking about Imran Khan’s call to march against India, the MEA Spokesperson said, “He used provocative and irresponsible statements in UNGA too. I think he doesn’t know how to conduct international relationships. The most serious thing is he gave an open call for jihad against India which is not normal.”

Indian Army demanded that Pakistan maintain the sanctity of the LoC before the march of locals in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) towards the LoC. The march was backed by the Pakistani Army.

Pakistan is trying to mobilize local population residing in PoK to rise up against India and to march towards India. The Pakistanis know that India will retaliate against such a move. The marchers will be unarmed and an Indian response could trigger an international outcry against India. However, such a plan by Pakistan is still to materialize.

Raveesh Kumar also spoke about Malaysian Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohammad’s speech at the UNGA where he accused India for invading and occupying Jammu and Kashmir.

Kumar said, “We have traditionally good and friendly ties with Malaysia. This relationship has been enhanced in recent years. We have noted the comment on Jammu and Kashmir by the Prime Minister of Malaysia. We deeply regret these comments since it is not based on facts. The facts are as under: Jammu and Kashmir signed the same Instrument of Accession as was done by other princely states. Pakistan invaded and illegally occupied parts of Jammu and Kashmir, a fact which has been recognised by the international community. The current developments in J&K and Ladakh is a purely internal matter of India and does not involve any third country. The Government of Malaysia should bear in mind the friendly relations between the two countries and desist from making such comments.”

The MEA Spokesperson had a similar advice to the Turkish leadership. Raveesh Kumar said,  “India and Turkey are friendly countries. We, therefore, deeply regret that since August 6, there have been repeated statements by the Turkish government on a matter completely internal to India. These statements are factually incorrect, biased and unwarranted. We call upon the Turkish government to get a proper understanding of the situation on the ground before they make any further statements on this issue.”
