Pakistan jittery ahead of Chinese President’s high profile visit to India: Will test missile today says Indian intelligence agencies

New Delhi: The Indian intelligence agencies are saying that Pakistan is all set for a big missile test near Karachi port at the exact time when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomes Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mahabalipuram today evening.

The Pakistani Civil Aviation authorities has given a notice to airmen and all international flights from Karachi Airport have been diverted to different air routes. However, the intelligence agencies are not sure about which missile the Pakistanis will be testing today.

The sudden missile test is seen as  a ploy by Pakistani government, which is clearly jittery about the high profile visit of Chinese President to India. The test is a power show to satisfy the Pakistani citizens who are already fed up of the Imran Khan government which has botched up the Kashmir issue miserably in the international circles.

The Chinese President’s meeting with Narendra Modi is the second informal meeting between the two leaders since the Wuhan summit in 2017. The leaders will discuss issues of bilateral, regional and global importance and will also share views on the deepening India-China Closer Developmental Partnership.

The Chinese media has highlighted the visit of that country’s President to India. Global Times, a Chinese media house said that if both countries speak together on international and regional affairs, the world will listen.

However, there would not be any signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) between the two nations.

Global Times said, “This obviously is conducive to building a new international political and economic order that is in favour of emerging markets and other developing countries. As splendid ancient civilisations and big developing countries, China and India can do a lot on the world stage.”

It also added, “Although China-India ties have been through twists and turns, as co-proposers of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, the Asian neighbours clearly have enough wisdom to overcome difficulties and push forward a closer development partnership.”

Meanwhile, the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has arrived in Chennai to welcome his guest.

Modi tweeted, “Landed in Chennai. I am happy to be in the great land of Tamil Nadu, known for its wonderful culture and hospitality. It is gladdening that Tamil Nadu will host President Xi Jinping. May this Informal Summit further strengthen ties between India and China.”

The Chinese President is on a two day visit to India. Today Modi will welcome the President at Mahaballipuram in Tamil Nadu and give a guided tour to the three UNESCO world heritage sites, which are Arjuna’s penance, Panch Rathas, and Shore Temple.
