Chennai: Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is on a two day visit to India, received a red carpet welcome at the Chennai airport. Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam received Xi in the airport.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Mamallapuram and will meet Xi in the evening here. Modi received a warm welcome at Chennai airport by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palani Swami and Governor Banwarilal. Today Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping will move for guided tours of UNESCO sites. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a sumptuous dinner with Tamil cuisines to honour the Chinese President, later this evening.
Tomorrow, both the leaders will have discussions on various topics. The delegation level talks are scheduled at 10 am. This informal meet is an extension of Wuhan meet in April 2018.
Narendra Modi told that this meeting will help to strengthen the bilateral relationship. Modi welcomed Xi in his tweets and said that he is really glad to see Tamil Nadu welcoming the Chinese President. PM tweeted his welcome in English ,Tamil and Mandarin.
