New Delhi: The world’s highest and coldest battleground, Siachen Glacier- Saltoro Ridge region has now opened for tourists, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Singh who had arrived in eastern Ladakh to inaugurate the strategically-important bridge, “Col Chewang Rinchen”, said that the areas from Siachen base camp to Kumar post has been opened for tourism purposes.
“Ladakh has tremendous potential in Tourism. Better connectivity in Ladakh would certainly bring tourists in large numbers. The Siachen area is now open for tourists and Tourism. From Siachen Base Camp to Kumar Post, the entire area has been opened for Tourism purposes,” tweeted Rajnath Singh.

Now the tourism purposes will be boosted in Ladakh and allow people to appreciate the tremendous work exercised by the Army soldiers in extreme weather conditions.
“Delighted to dedicate to the nation the newly constructed ‘Colonel Chewang Rinchen Bridge’ at Shyok River in Ladakh. This bridge has been completed in record time. It will not only provide all weather connectivity in the region but also be a strategic asset in the border areas,” tweeted Singh after inaugurating the bridge.
