Mumbai: It’s a historic win for BJP Maharashtra when the party made a clean sweep in the Assembly Election 2019 for the second consecutive term.
As per the Election Commission, BJP secured 105 seats, Shiv Sena (56), Congress (44) and the Nationalist Congress Party (54).
The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance thus leads with 161 seats out of 288.
Meanwhile, the NCP increased its numbers as compared to the 2014 elections. The Congress slipped to the fourth position in a state where it was once the dominant player.
After winning the election, Devendra Fadnavis spoke to the media and said that fifteen independent MLAs from Maharashtra have joined the BJP, and many more MLAs will join the party in future.
Fadnavis thanked the people for bringing the BJP back to power. With the BJP in power, the people made the right decision. In some constituencies, there has been a slight decline in the number of votes. However, the party is doing better than it was in Maharashtra, he said
