New Delhi: All the accused behind the gruesome murder of the leader of Hindu Samaj Party, Kamlesh Tiwari, will now get money to pay their legal fees from a Muslim outfit, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. The Muslim outfit has also promised the service of its legal cell to help Moinuddin Pathan and Ashfaq Shaikh face the law.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has contacted the families of the accused and the Gujarat unit of the outfit decided to help the families pay for the lawyers who will appear for the accused.
Kamlesh Tiwari, who was a former member of the Hindu Mahasabha, was stabbed 15 times, shot in the face, and an attempt made to slit his throat was also made. The incident took place on 18 October when both Moinduddin Pathan and Ashfaq Shaikh visited Tiwari in his office and told him that they were Hindus. They said they sought Tiwari’s help to marry a Muslim girl.
They lied to get near him and offered him a packet of Diwali sweets, in which the murder weapon was concealed. They opened the packet and attacked him and fled once his death was confirmed.
Most of the stab wounds was on his upper body to ensure his death. The only witness in the case, Saurashtrajeet Singh is now in Uttar Pradesh and demanding police protection as he fears for his life.
The witness said, “The two assailants were masquerading as Hindus and had come to seek Tiwari’s help in marrying a Muslim girl. One of them claimed to be in love with a Muslim girl. I heard Tiwari promising legal and other help for the wedding. Then I left the place.”
Meanwhile the Gujarat Police said that the two accused justified the killing saying that it was justified as per Sharia law.
