Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister-elect Manohar Lal Khattar will take charge as the chief minister for the second consecutive term today. Dushyant Chautala, whose Jannayak Janta Party(JJP) lent support to the BJP after it fell short of a majority, will take oath as his deputy at the swearing-in ceremony.
The ceremony will be held at Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh at 2.15 p.m.
“We have stake claim to form government in Haryana. The Governor has accepted our proposal and invited us (to form the government),” Mr Khattar told reporters.
BJP won 40 seats in the 90-member assembly while JJP bagged 10 seats in its debut polls.
The agreement between the BJP and JJP was announced after a meeting between the two sides at BJP chief and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence on Friday.
