Jammu & Kashmir: Terrorists, today, hurled a grenade near a bus stand at Sopore area in Jammu and Kashmir injuring 19 civilians. The condition of six persons are said to be critical. The attack comes just before twenty seven members of European Union Parliament is scheduled to visit the state.
The security forces are still on the hunt to nab the persons behind the grenade attack. The attack took place at 4.20 pm, which led to troops of 179 battalion cordoning of the area.
The visit of the European Union Parliamentarians to the state is a diplomatic outreach by the government to show the world India’s development and governance policies. It is also meant to counter the Pakistani propaganda about oppression of the Kashmiri people.
Today’s attack is seen as a bid by Pakistani based terror networks to spread havoc and confusion to picture Kashmir in a bad light before the world community. The Islamic country has been continuously trying to raise the Kashmir issue in international forums but has been snubbed by most of the global community.
Another terrorist attack at Ananthnag area resulted in the death of a civilian, a truck driver. This attack took place just an hour after the grenade attack at Sopore.
