Chennai: It was a sad day for Tamil Nadu and also the entire nation when news poured in that the 3 year old Sujith Wilson had died inside the bore-well in which he was trapped for five days. He fell into the disused well on Friday while playing near his home at Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu.

The entire nation was praying for the safety of the child for five days. Celebrities and political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi had joined together in praying for Sujith Wilson.

Commissioner of Revenue Administration, J. Radhakrishnan said that the body of the child was dismembered and in a highly decomposed state.

The child had fell into the 600 feet unused bore well on Friday and got stuck at 35 feet inside the well. Authorities roped in the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for the rescue operations.

Later he fell further to 70 feet and then to 90 feet underground, which made the rescue operations very difficult. Sujith was supplied with oxygen and was monitored continuously.

Tamil Nadu Minister for Health and Family Welfare N. Nagarajan was camped at the site since Friday. A rig to drill a parallel hole 100 feet was brought in. But the efforts to drill became hard because of the rocky ground and rain.

The Prime Minister, yesterday, had talked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, E. K. Palanisamy, about the rescue efforts. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, actor Rajanikanth and Kamal Hasan had also joined in praying for Sujith. DMK leader M. K. Stalin also wished the boy is rescued at the earliest.

However, the prayers went unheard even though Sujith Wilson fought on bravely for his life for the last five days.
