New Delhi: The European Union delegation comprising of members of the European Union Parliamentarians have supported India’s efforts to bring normalcy to Kashmir and said that terrorism is a major global threat. They also spoke with local Kashmiris and said that they wanted development.
The delegation interacted with local Kashmiris and they said they needed development in Jammu and Kashmir just like in all other parts of India.
One member said that they are in support of India’s efforts to bring normalcy in the region and to end the issue of terrorism. The member said that terrorists are targeting innocents and these terrorists are a threat to the rest of Europe.
Another EU member also warned that Kashmir must not go the Afghanistan way.
The EU is on a two day fact finding mission to the valley and had met the Prime Minister and Vice President before embarking on their journey to Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh told the delegation that situation in Kashmir has been peaceful and the Indian forces is handling the situation in a humane manner.
Terrorists are trying to create havoc in the region by staging daring attacks in the past two days. However, the security forces are retaliating heavily and has kept the situation under control.
