Raipur: One CRPF jawan was martyred in an encounter with the communist terrorist group, CPI(Maoist) in Chhattisgarh. The gunfight took place in the wee hours, today, at Bijapur district in the state.
The encounter began after the terrorists opened fire at a joint search team of state police and the CRPF Cobra unit. The martyred jawan belongs to the 151 battalion. The search began after receiving intelligence report of the presence of communist terrorists in the area.
Reports say that security forces retaliated and killed the terrorists. No further information have been released.
Maoists have repeatedly attacked security forces in their bid to wage war and topple the Indian government. Ironically, in Kerala there is a huge support from the CPI(M) and the CPI towards those who are pro-Maoists. Many from the left intellectual spectrum have also extended their support to the recently arrested Shuhaib and Fazal for links with Maoists.
