Mumbai: The Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, has invited the second largest party in the Maharashtra Assembly to form the government. The move comes after BJP informed of its decision not to form a government.

Shiv Sena has 56 seats in the house and need a total of 145 to cross the majority mark. Earlier, NCP had said that they would extend their support to the Shiv Sena if they approach for an alliance. The NCP with its 54 seats and Congress with 44 seats could hoist a Shiv Sena led government and reach the majority mark.

Shiv Sena leaders have reached party chief Uddhav Thackeray’s residence to discuss about the development.

However, senior Nationalist Congress Party leader, Nawab Malik, today said that Shiv Sena must severe all relations with the BJP to get support of the NCP.

He said, “If the Shiv Sena wants support from the NCP, they will have to announce that they have severed their all relations with the BJP and their minister in the Central government resign as well.”
