Muzaffarpur: In a shocking incident at Muzaffarpur in Bihar, a minor girl was raped by a Muslim cleric, when she went to deliver food for him at his mosque. The cleric sedated the girl before sexually assaulting her. He then took a video of the rape, which he used to blackmail her. Knowing about the incident a local electrician also raped her promising to marry her.
The girl, who comes from a poor family and is illiterate, said that she was raped in January. She gave birth to the baby last month.
After getting impregnated and abandoned, the girl accused both the accused of rape. The girl had approached the local panchayat for justice and demanded that a DNA test be done. However, the local panchayat blamed the girl for the incident and ordered her to sell her baby for Rs. 20,000 and the money treated as compensation.
In a statement given by the girl in July says, “”He gave me Rs 15 to not tell anyone about the incident. Another man who is also an electrician raped me between the month of January and February on the pretext of marriage. He later refused to marry me. I am six months pregnant. I request you to punish the two culprits.”
The police have begun the probe and the hunt is on to nab the culprits who are absconding. The investigation will involve the local panchayat, which blamed the girl for the incident. FIR is registered under various sections of IPC and the POCSO Act.
