New Delhi: Just before the beginning of winter session of parliament today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told reporters that he hoped for “frank discussions on all matters”.
“We want the best of best debates and hope all parties will contribute in a positive and proactive way, as they did in the previous session,” PM Modi told reporters.
“This is the last Parliament session of 2019. It is very important because this is the 250th Parliament session of the Rajya Sabha. During this session, on 26th, we will observe the Constitution Day – when our Constitution completes its 70 years.”
“In the previous session, unprecedented achievements took place, not only because of the treasury benches but also because of the positive role played by all parties,” he said.
The Winter Session of Parliament will continue till December 13. Major bills including the Citizenship Bill are scheduled to table today. The bill seeks to grant citizenship to non-Muslims of the neighbouring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014.
