New Delhi: The hypocrisy and double standards of CPI(M) came to the fore when the Polit Bureau (PB) of the party took a stand against the entry of Muslim women into Mosques while at the same time demanding that women enter Sabarimala temple to uphold gender equality.
The Polit Bureau said that the pleas for entry of Muslim and Parsi women in places of worship are being considered by other benches of the Supreme Court. Therefore, it was not appropriate for the apex court to make observation about Muslim women entry to Mosques while giving verdict on Sabarimala.
The PB claimed that the discussions on Muslim women’s entry is to a ploy to divert attention from the Sabarimala issue. The General Secretary of CPI(M), Sitaram Yechury, did not gave a direct answer about the party’s stand on the Muslim women’s entry to Mosques.
However, the party seems to have a strong opinion about Sabarimala and strongly advocate the entry of women to Sabarimala, in violation of ancient traditions. The CPI(M) stands for gender equality when it comes to Sabarimala. The party PB requests the apex court to reach the real verdict soon and points out that there is no clarity in the present verdict.
