New Delhi: The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress plea at Supreme Court seeking immediate floor test in Maharashtra Assembly met with a road block today as apex court did not favour it. Instead the court sought the letter of invitation given by Maharashtra Governor to Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar to form the government.
The court directed Solicitor General, Tushar Mehta, to produce the letter before 10.30 am tomorrow. Further, the Supreme Court also asked for the letter of support that Fadnavis gave to form the government.
The SC gave notice to the Maharashtra government and the Central government on the plea given by Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine.
Kapil Sibal representing the trio had told the SC that immediate floor test must be done to prevent horse trading in the state. The case is heard by a three-judge bench of the apex court.
The Sena-NCP-Congress has also demanded that Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s decision to invite the BJP to form the government be quashed.
