Kolkata: Attacks against political opponents continues in West Bengal by Trinamool Congress (TMC) goons. The latest victim is the BJP Vice President of the State, Jay Prakash Majumdar. In a video shared by ANI the BJP leader is seen dragged, beaten, kicked and thrown in to a ditch by TMC workers.
Jay Prakash Majumdar is also the candidate of the Karimpur assembly where a by-poll is underway. The attack began when Majumdar was trying to enter a polling booth. The Trinamool Congress dragged him from his car, thrashed and kicked him into a ditch.
The BJP leader accused the local police for not intervening in the incident and said that slogans were shouted against me.
Jay Prakash Majumdar said, “When I reached Booth no. 49 in the morning and dropped two of my agents, within few minutes they were abducted by some TMC workers. Ramnagar village is on the side and TMC goon Raju Mallick started threatening villagers. We have informed the police to arrest Raju Mallick immediately and also the Election Commission about the incident.”
He also said that he has requested the police to find out the missing agents of the BJP and added that their mobiles are switched off and everyone is worried about them.
The Election Commission has sought a report about the attack on the BJP candidate. By polls are being held in Karimpur, Kharagpur Sadar, and Kaliaganj assembly seats.
