100 Muslims including Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi opposes giving review petition against SC’s Ramjanmabhoomi verdict

New Delhi: One hundred Muslims from across the country have come together to oppose giving review petition against the Supreme Court verdict on the Ramjanmabhoomi case. Bollywood veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi were some of the prominent personalities who took a stand against filing review petitions against the verdict.

They said that it is harmful for the Muslim community to keep the dispute alive. The Supreme Court had on 9 November ordered that a Ram Temple to be build on the disputed site by a trust set up by the Central government. The verdict also granted 5 acres of land at a prominent site in Ayodhya for the construction of a Mosque for Muslims.

Though, Sunni Central Waqf Board made it clear that they would not file a review petition against the verdict, the All India Muslim Personal Board said that they would file a review petition at the Supreme Court.

The verdict by the Supreme Court which granted the disputed site to Hindus was welcomed from many quarters of India. Both communities heard the verdict with maturity and there was no untoward incident reported from anywhere in the country.
