New Delhi: The RSS Sarsanghchalak, Mohan Bhagwat, spoke about honouring women must being from home and said that respecting and protecting women must not be left to the government alone. His comments come after the shocking incident of rape and murder of a veterinary doctor in Telegana.
The RSS chief was speaking at the Gita Mahotsav program conducted by spiritual guru Swami Gyanand at the grounds of Red Fort.
Bhagwat said, “The men who engage in abuse of women also have mothers and sisters. Honouring women should start from one’s own home.”
He added, “It is pertinent to respect and protect women. While we have laws for that country and it is the responsibility of administration and government, we can’t leave the issue on them alone.”
RSS Sarsanghchalak said, “Gita has given all knowledge of spirituality in condensed form. It is a summarized form of all Upanishads which Lord Krishna espoused to Arjun. It has advocated that one should do devotion along with performing duties.”
He also said that Bhagavad Gita helps one to rise above all challenges in life by following the holy text.
The event was attended by Sadhvi Rithambhara, Union MInister Smriti Irani, Chief Imam Dr. Omer Ahmed Iyasi and Congress leader Janardan Dwivedi.
Union Minister Smriti Irani said that anyone who understands a bit of Gita will know that protecting women is their Dharma. She requested the saints to ensure that women are respected everywhere.
Sadhvi Rithambhara said that it is a shame that women are raped in India where Mothers are worshiped. She also demanded that the culprits be punished adequately.
Chief Imam Omer Ahmed also demanded that severe punishment must be meted out to the rapists.
