Hawaii: Indian Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal R. K. S. Bhadauria, and his team were present near the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam at the time of a shooting spree by a US sailor which left two civilians dead.

The IAF chief and all the members of his team are reported to be safe. The IAF Chief along with his team was present there to take part in the Pacific Air Chiefs’ Symposium 2019. However, the place where Bhadauria was present is reported to be not close to where the incident took place.

The tragic incident took place on Wednesday after a US sailor opened fire and killed two civilians working for the US military. The shooter was also killed after he shot himself with his weapon.

A statement from the Join Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam said, “Officials at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam report the shooting incident at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard has been secured. One person is confirmed dead. The shooter has been identified as a US sailor. Base security and Navy investigative services are currently investigating. The names of the victims will not be released until the next of kin have been notified,”

The incident comes just two days before the 78th anniversary of Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941, which prompted the United States to enter into World War 2 on the side of the allies.
