Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) triumphs in the bypolls in Karnataka and is set to retain the government in the state. The party workers and leaders have started celebrating victory in the state office.
Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and his son BY Vijayendra celebrated the early leads and greeted with sweets.
The BJP candidates are leading from the Athani, Kagwad, Gokak, Yellapur, Hirekerur, Ranibennur, Vijayanagara, Chikkaballapur, K.R.Pura, Yeshwantpur, Krishnarajapete and the Mahalakshmi layout seats.
Meanwhile two Congress candidates are leading on the Hunasuru and Shivajinagar constituencies.
The BJP needed to win 6 seats out of 15 to retain the government. After the disqualification of the MLAs by the Supreme Court for joing the BJP, the strength of the house was reduced to 208.
