New Delhi: The Upper House on Wednesday passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) 2019 when 125 members voted in favour of the CAB while 105 MPs against it.
Meanwhile, in Assam people have been protesting against the CAB.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the people of Assam that they have nothing to worry about CAB.
“I want to assure my brothers and sisters of Assam that they have nothing to worry after the passing of #CAB. I want to assure them- no one can take away your rights, unique identity and beautiful culture. It will continue to flourish and grow,” Modi tweeted.

An indefinite curfew has been imposed in Guwahati in the wake of protests after the passage of the CAB in Rajya Sabha.
The CAB had been passed with a majority of 311 votes against 80 votes in the Lok Sabha earlier.
